Marcus Wilson scored a layup as time expired to lift Montana State-Northern to a 76-74 win over Montana-Western Thursday night to finish the first round of the Frontier Conference men's basketball tournament. Jeff Graham had tied the score with four seconds left with two free throws for Western (13-18). Northern (19-12) inbounded the ball and Jordan Matthews connected with Wilson on a halfcourt pass that Wilson put through the hoop for the winning score. Matthews finished with 15 points to lead the Lights. Wilson added 14 points, followed by Reid Stovall with 13 and Brian Erickson with 11. Northern will play fourth-ranked Carroll (26-3) in a semifinal game Friday at 4 p.m. Wes Morales led Western with 19 points, followed by Charlie Cox with 16 and Graham with 11. The Lights led 35-31 at halftime.
