Tyrone Bazy led five Northern Arizona players in double figures with 16 points and the Lumberjacks clinched at least a share of the Big Sky Conference title with an 82-73 victory over Montana State Thursday. Kelly Golob and Rubin Boykin each scored 15 points for Northern Arizona (19-7, 11-1 Big Sky), followed by Ryan McCurdy with 13 points and Steven Sir with 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Northern Arizona led 74-59 on Bazy's short jumper with 7:37 left. Montana State (13-12, 6-5) went on a 7-1 run to get within 75-66 on a layup by Marvin Moss with 4:54 remaining. Josh Wilson took the ensuing inbounds pass the length of the court for a layup. Two free throws by Moss with 4:31 left narrowed the NAU lead to 77-68, but the Lumberjacks answered with a free throw by Wilson and a short jumper by Boykin to take an 80-69 lead with 2:13 to play. A layup by Al Beye, who finished with 23 points on 11-of-13 shooting, pulled MSU to 80-70 at the two-minute mark. Teammate Derek Edmonds added a 3-pointer with 5.6 seconds let, but a pair of free throws by Golob with 2.9 seconds left set the final score. Moss added 17 points for the Bobcats, Edmonds scored 15 points and Ja'Ron Jefferson had 10 points on 3-of-13 shooting. Northern Arizona led 45-34 at halftime.
