Tyrone Bazy scored 22 points, Ruben Boykin had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Northern Arizona held off a late Weber State rally to win 88-82 Thursday night.
Nick Covington scored a career-high 28 points, including three 3-pointers in the final 35 seconds, for Weber State (6-10, 0-3 Big Sky).
Northern Arizona (11-6, 3-0) converted 15 of 16 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Weber State led 38-36 at the half, but Northern Arizona went ahead on a 7-0 run to start the second half. The Lumberjacks pulled away on runs of 5-0, 6-0 and 8-0 to slowly pull away, and took their biggest lead, 66-57, on Bazy's layup with 8:46 remaining.
Weber State had one more surge, highlighted by Clint Burris's basket with 3:42 to play, to pull within 70-69.
But Kelly Golob answered with a 3-pointer and the Lumberjacks were near perfect from the line to finish the game.
Midway through the first half, Weber State had a 12-2 run, capped by a pair of 3-pointers by Covington and Coric Riggs. The Wildcats' biggest lead came with 5:10 remaining in the half when Brett Cox hit a 3-pointer to put WSU up 30-22.
Boykin got Northern Arizona back into the game, scoring eight points in the final 4:50 of the half. Boykin's basket with 37 seconds before halftime tied the score at 36. WSU's Chauncey Shelton's layup broke the tie and the Wildcats led 38-36 at halftime.
